Tom Anderson receives requests to build his guitars from some of the most accomplished guitar players on the planet - just spend 5mins googling and you'll know who and why!
This is a very early Atom CT. handbuilt to perfection...
Around 2006 Tom Anderson decided to make a new breed of guitar - LP 'ish' in style but with superior playability and greater tonal versatility.
The Atom CT was born.
It's a single cutaway, 24 3/4" scale, 1 11/16" nut width.
This is the CT variation of the Atom - meaning that it has a carved Maple flame top and was the top end of the range.
The mahogany back combined with the maple top gives it a very warm tone that delivers amazing oomph in the low end whilst providing a beautiful high end shimmer reminiscent of a Strat. Putting it in basic terms - it's a guitar that sounds somehwere between an LP and a Strat, and once you get accustomed to it, enables you to produce sounds reminiscent of both in one guitar - all the while being unique and original in it's own right.
At 24 3/4 inch scale length, it sits comfortably between a Strat and a Les Paul and seems to satisfy both camps.
The neck of this guitar is mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard.
The electronics are simple; one master volume knob, one master tone knob, and a 5-way selector switch. The added bonus is the coil tap from the tone knob that only works when you’re on the middle position of the selector switch.
Position 1 is full neck pickup.
Position 2 is full neck with part of the bridge.
Position 3 is both the neck and bridge pick up - it's this position that (when coil tapped) gives you half of each pickup for the very unique TA tone
Position 4 is half neck/all bridge
Position 5 is all bridge.
Maybe now you're starting to realise just how boutique this guitar really is! The tonal options really are endless.
The pickups are Tom Anderson’s proprietary hand wound in shop pickups.
